  • Mark Your Calendar: November 13th Court of Honor!

We're going away from our usual Sunday formula for this fall's Court of Honor!    It will be Tuesday, November 13th at Oak Arbor Church from 7:30 - 9:00 PM.

Doing this on a regular Tuesday meeting night is workable when we don't have an adjoining Eagle Court of Honor . . . and we hope it puts even more attention on the accomplishments of the many Scouts that have rank advancements and merit badges coming!

For any of our new parents (and a reminder for some of our longer term families), you really need to make time for this!    Not only does it mean a whole lot to the Scouts to have family present for their awards, but it is a great opportunity to visit with the other Scouts and families who are just as proud of what their Scouts are doing.   You'll leave with a much more tangible understanding of what the Scouts have been doing at our recent Troop activities and see a bit of how they grow through these experiences.     We are really pleased to have an exceptional set of accomplishments from the summer and early fall to recognize!

And Scouts, please recall that whether or not this is a big advancement night for you personally, it is always a big event for many of your peer Scouts . . . we especially want and expect you all there!

Hope to see you all on the 13th!

  • Fall High Adventure Hike

Saturday 8 scouts set off on a 20+ mile hike in the Manistee National forest. Saturday we hiked south on the North Country trail. Morning was rainy but by the time we hit the high ground it was sunny and we could see that the tree colors were just past peak. Sunday we hiked the Manistee River Trail north. It was beautiful with high peak views over the river, water falls and eventful creek crossings. Highlights were the sounds heard like geese flying, coyotes howling, owls and even screams from big foot (honest ask the guys). Lesson’s learned include water bottles will freeze solid over night and a straight line is not always the shortest route.
  • October 30th Meeting - Mulligan's Golf 7PM $3

Tuesday, October 30th meeting is at Mulligan's Gold Center at 3951 Joslyn (actually enter off Great Lakes Crossing Drive) next south of I-75. It is white domed building on SW corner.

Bring $3 for a round of Putt-Putt, Keep your card as we will keep a score board, leaders against scouts. You can get there between 7 & 7:30 (spread out tee times). Family's are welcome to join in. While waiting or after you can hit out a bucket of balls.

    Class B

We will start collecting November Campout permission slips.

  • Community House Pancake Breakfast 10-27

Needed scouts to act as servers for Halloween Pancake Breakfast on October 27th, 8:30- 11:30 AM

Scouts who can volunteer should call Patrol Leader or Scribe to sign up.

Come in a non-scary costume (Cowboy, hunter, geek, etc)

    Counts towards Technology Lock-in.

  • Great October Campout

The campout was great, with awesome weather. We got off in the rain but found it dry the whole time at D-A. The younger scouts hiked 6 miles on the Pedro Trail (& earned a patch). They came back to find older scouts had turned to injured (fractures, burns, bites, heat, punchures) zombies needing assistance. The scouts broke into groups and did triage. All zombies were saved. The campfire was fun. The Patrols all performed and the Scouts working on Communication Merit Badge did skits, stories and walk-ons. All this before a roaring fire and shooting stars. B.Burlingame
  • Fall High Adventure Hike/Backpacking Weekend -- Final Call

     Thanks !!

  • Troop Officer Election Campaign Coverage

What campaign? Despite the Scoutmaster's direct challege for Scout's to post their campaign messages here: http://cvctroop125.org/forums/29.aspx, not a single Scout has figured out how to make a discussion group post. Hard to say if this task is 1) forbidden by parents, b) too darned hard to figure out or 3) nobody gives hoot.  Why not weigh in with your own theory. I know somebody will be brave enough to break the ice.

  • Community Service and Halloween Campout Planning October 8

Want to earn more volunteer time at the Community House, come at 6 PM, Monday October 8 in grubby clothes. Earn hours for lock-in and citizenship in the community merit badge.

Want to help plan Campout come at 7:15 PM Monday Oct 8th. Those who want to earn Troop Guide can plan the 1st aid for ghouls event. Help design and buy Halloween make-up and plan the corrective action to save the ghouls.

Younger scouts can attend and help be the ghouls in distress. Older scouts can also plan the haunted camp fire to earn credit for the Communication Merit Badge. Can you say "ghost stories?"
